Background History
There has been an injection moulding company at this site in Colwyn Bay since it was formed back in 1958 and called John Prior Plastics. Since then there have been two other owners before Andrew Brooksbank bought the site from CPL Plastics when they went into Receivership in July 2002.
Andrew Brooksbank and Alun Burt have both worked within the plastics industry for over 20 years at various management levels, and both have extensive knowledge of the trade.
The company was part of a small group of two companies. Andrew and Alun recognised the greater business potential in the site at Colwyn. They approached each other to consider a joint venture with Andrew to be the Chief Executive and Alun, Managing Director.
In December 2008 A2B Plastics expanded its operations by taking over a Toolmaking firm and moving it into its premises in Colwyn Bay, thereby securing the services of an experienced Toolmaker and offering customers the option of having all their tooling requirements done 'in house'.
In addition to acquiring the Toolroom facility, in January 2009 when Marlin Products went into Receivership, A2B Plastics stepped in to offer both Marlin's existing customers and also new customers, the opportunity of being able to purchase the wide selection of high quality boxes and carrying cases previously supplied to them.
